DFG offers special Game Bird Heritage Program apprentice (junior) pheasant hunts at Delta Islands

Permits will be issued for a special Apprentice Game Bird Heritage Program event at Delta Islands (Twitchell/Sherman Islands) in Sacramento County. These limited permit pheasant hunts will be offered to apprentice (junior) hunters. The application deadline is Nov. 3, 2008. To be eligible, youths must have successfully completed a hunter education course and possess a valid 2008-09 California Junior Hunting License at the time of application. The hunts are scheduled as follows:

  • Hunt #1 - November 22 - 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Hunt #2 - November 23 - 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The apprentice hunts will be offered to 100 hunters, 50 for each day. Hunters may apply only once. Any duplicate applications will result in disqualification. Apprentice junior hunters must be supervised by a non-hunting adult, 18 years of age or older. One Adult may supervise no more than two junior hunters.
