Fish and Game Commission Appoints John Carlson, Jr. as New Executive Director

The California Fish and Game Commission today announced that it has selected John Carlson, Jr., as successor to retiring Executive Director Robert R. Treanor. The Commission held a special meeting on Dec. 21 to make the selection.

Treanor served the Commission as its Executive Director for 15½ years. Carlson will assume his new role on Jan. 1, 2006.

Currently, Carlson is the Chief of the Department of Fish and Game’s Wildlife Programs Branch. He has held that position since Dec. 17, 2001. He has a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from Humboldt State University, and a master’s in wildlife biology from Iowa State University.
