Draft MPA Proposals for the MLPA North Central Coast Study Region (December 2007)

The North Central Coast Regional Stakeholder Group (NCCRSG) is the primary source of alternative marine protected area proposals to the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force; however, the MLPA Initiative is an open, transparent process and others have submitted MPA proposals to the task force and NCCRSG for review and consideration. Based upon the draft options for MPA arrays developed by the NCCRSG work groups and draft proposals submitted from outside the NCCRSG work group process, four draft MPA proposals were developed and submitted in December 2007 for review and consideration in the MLPA Initiative process.

Four draft MPA proposals have been developed by the NCCRSG and may be revised and further refined, or combined into fewer proposals, at the March 18-19, 2007 NCCRSG meeting: Draft MPA Proposal 1 (EC), Draft MPA Proposal 2 (JD), Draft MPA Proposal 3 (TC), Draft MPA Proposal 4 (JC), and Draft MPA External Proposal A. In addition to these draft proposals, the existing array of MPAs (Proposal Zero) will also be evaluated and reviewed.
