Subscriptions & Software Applications
- California Natural Diversity Database (CNDDB) Subscription
Includes Rarefind 3, a stand-alone database application for Windows. Search for, analyze and generate reports for thousands of occurrences of rare native species and natural communities. Also includes CNDDB GIS Data. - California Wildlife Habitat Relationships (CWHR) Version 8.1 Software
A database application compiled as a stand-alone program in Visual Dbase. Predicts presence of and habitat suitability for 692 terrestrial vertebrates based on geographic range, relationships to habitats and stages, seasonal use patterns and presence of habitat elements. Prints species life history descriptions, habitat descriptions and custom reports of database queries. Also includes BIOVIEW, an application that translates habitat suitability values for wildlife species into data that can be used in a GIS, with an option to apply fuzzy logic to the calculation of these values. User's Manual included on CD. 2005. - Species Range Maps from California Wildlife Habitat Relationships (CWHR)
GIS shapefiles captured at 1:1,000,000 scale showing statewide range by season of the 692 terrestrial vertebrates in CWHR. 2005.
Standard Hardcopy Maps
- California Natural Diversity Database (CNDDB) Overlays at 1:24,000 scale
Each map is a vellum or mylar overlay of CNDDB data for a 1:24,000 scale USGS base map with text reports. Prices may vary depending on individual quad. Call to order.

Publications
- A Guide to Wildlife Habitats of California (1988)
Mayer, K.E. and W.F. Laudenslayer, Jr., (black and white copies only) - California Vernal Pool Assessment Preliminary Report (1998)
Keeler-Wolf, T., D.R. Elam, K. Lewis and S.A. Flint. 1998
A summary of the current statewide body of knowledge for vernal pools. The vernal pool regions identified in the report accentuate the variety of distinct natural resources encompassed in California vernal pools: the rare and endemic plants and animals, the variety of vernal pool types, and the relationship of geography to these factors. Division of the state into vernal pool regions can also enable us to understand the widely varying management concerns for the state's pools. - Changes in Great Valley Vernal Pool Distribution from 1989 to 1997
Report prepared by Dr. Robert Holland, PhD. - Habitat Suitability Models for 28 Selected Species from California Wildlife Habitats Relationship (CWHR) System
Technical reports which accompany ARCInfo GRID models. Each model is a Level II, spatially explicit wildlife habitat relationships model which builds on CWHR habitat suitability information with distance to resources, home range, habitat patch size and territory. - California Native Plant Status Reports
Rare plant status reports were produced at various times between 1977 and 1993 for selected species native to California. Note that the most reliable information in the status reports will be the plant description and synonomy; often there is also a useful drawing or photograph. The distribution and status information is out of date for the majority of these reports. - Conservation and Cooperation: Strategies for Making Endangered Species Laws Work - Kirlin
